I’ve spent over 25 years inside operational environments — not observing them from the outside, but running them.

My career began in large-scale production and service operations, where discipline, efficiency and clarity were non-negotiable. Over time, I’ve led teams across the UK, US and offshore markets, managing high-volume delivery environments with hundreds of staff and complex partner ecosystems.

My mantra is always to keep things simple. I don’t build over elaborate tech solutions because simply because the tech exists. I spend time assessing the current state to identify where the biggest problems and opportunities are and then determine how best to tackle using technology as an enabler where it will make significant benefit.

As a result of my broad experience I am able to offer a range of support services which include the following:

• Fractional Leadership – if you’re a start-up or scale up business you may not be at the stage where you need or can afford a full time Operations Director. I can support you on a fractional basis to put in place structures, organisational disciplines, processes and system tools/AI which can bring order and scalability. I can then help if needed recruit an Operations leader to help run your business once it’s in a scalable position.

• AI and tech tool implementation: I’m familiar with a range of AI tools such as Replit, VAPI, Make, Lovable, Google AI Studio to make apps and other tools which can transform how you do business. These tools are not just for large organisations, in fact AI is a great leveller allowing SME’s to automate or offer new services that in the past may have required significant investment or resource. I’ve made tools such as voice agents to replace traditional email or WhatsApp based messaging tools and as a Google Cloud certified Generative AI Leader as well as practical experience I can help your business benefit from this rapidly evolving technology.

• Process, Structure and Governance – I can review your current working practices and put in place new processes and automations which can make running your business simpler and more efficient.

• Data Analytics and Insights – have lots of data and wondering how to make sense of it, or wanting to collect more data on your customers buying habits, I can help you make sense of data allowing you to focus your efforts in the right place.

• Organisational Structure and design – if your business is needing to make organisational changes I can help you with this.

Keeping operations simple is the over-arching goal and I am used to seeing and addressing overly complex operating environments. From my experience, complexity can compound easily, overlaying new products, services and systems can mean a once simple way of working evolves to be anything but, taking up more time than is necessary, often spending more money on systems/suppliers and meaning mistakes can happen inadvertently. I can cut through this, provide an independent view and a sensible plan on how to simplify your business operations so you can focus on the things that make money.

Outside of work, and keeping my wife and very busy are our two boys and the final stretch of a long home renovation project. I’m also a sporty and outdoorsy person following Reading FC and loving a long cycle ride at weekends in the surrounding countryside.
